Glasgow Climate Sisters Project by Women’s Environmental Network

In September-November 2021, I worked with the Climate Sisters Project as a Mentor — through a programme organised by University of Glasgow’s Dear Green Bothy.

Wen’s Climate Sisters project is giving a voice to marginalised women in climate debates. Women from marginalised and diverse communities are often the first to be impacted by social injustices and more often than not their voices are the last to be heard.  This is no different for climate change both here in the UK and globally. Working together with women’s and community groups across the UK, the Climate Sisters project is platforming their vision, concerns and needs for a green, safe and caring economy.” (Wen)

In addition to helping singer/songwriter Amanda Bogle with her music video and creating sound design for Meray Diner’s short film, I followed the group as a videographer during their trips, events and exhibitions at COP26. This project has become a big part of my life — I met so many talented, inspiring women, and it meant a lot to have been given the “honorary climate sister” title:

Zhanna has become an honorary climate sister as she has been on the journey with the whole project and the other women capturing on film our events, trips and special moments, she’s been with us step by step. In addition, as a mentor Zhanna created the soundscape for the piece with Meray Diner and created the music video for Amanda Bogle. Zhanna has also contributed with footage to assist the film maker Catherine Dunn.” (Wen)
